Have you ever wondered how the big boys do it? How do they create such perfect videos?! I'm talking about those big time youtubers. Let me lead you into believing that they aren't special or gifted (sorry for being a bit rude). They use computer applications known as Video Editing Softwares. You can also make perfect videos with some practice (actually a lot of it) and start captivating your own audience in no significant quanta of time. Okay, once determined to get yourself into the world of video editing, the immediate question that follows is which one to choose. There are a whole lot of options to choose from and the situation where you have to choose one, literally messes with your senses. To help save you from some doctor bills, I am here to provide you a comprehensive list of the best video editing softwares at the end of 2017. This showdown is based on my user experience and is not meant to reflect the exact views of all the users.

5. Wondershare Filmora 8.0

Price: $110

This was the first application I ever used for editing videos. After launching the application, you'll be greeted with an option to use to either use a simplified mode or the full version. After getting into the application, a user can see that there are all the basic features to make an awesome looking family video but sadly, it is of no further use to the prosumers. It has some fair amount of options including edit, trim, transitions, overlays etc. The library offers you a good amount of effects and title styles that look good. Though it lacks some pro level features and absolute track control, a professional can however use it to convert videos into different formats if his default app doesn't support a particular format. Filmora has the largest range of supported file formats I've ever seen and it serves pretty well. With some ready to use formats and features including social share on hand, this is a decent choice if you are at the shore and want to dive into the ocean of video editing.

4. Apple Final Cut Pro X

Price: $300-$400

This application is exclusive to Apple Macintosh systems. I have not used this application much but for the time I used it, I found it to be substantially non-explanatory. For every new task, I had to look about in the application. The UI is pretty modern with all the essential and additional features needed during video production. The downside is that the capability of this software is bounded by the exclusiveness to Mac. Macs are significantly under-powered as compared to Windows PCs in terms of hardware. If you have a mac, this is the perfect application for you to start with. It provides a smooth workflow and decent versatility.

3. Magix Vegas Pro 14

Price: $249

This is the Software which helped me run a YouTube channel. It is fairly easy to use and offers a wide array of features. A newbie (which I was) can easily master this software in a span of 2-3 weeks. It offers nearly every feature that you would need to create any type of video. Though it has a limited no. of input formats, it has an enigma of options to choose from when you're rendering the video. The user can choose from hundreds of predefined output formats used at specific places such as a YouTube video or ATRAC audio and many others. Vegas was originally an audio editing software so it offers absolute command over how an audio file sounds in your video. You are in-charge of everything that happens in your video when using Vegas Pro 14. This is the perfect choice for you if you're starting with a new YouTube channel.

2. Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017

Price: $239/year

This is arguably the best and the most widely used video production software out there. It has a very very large no. of features and options available to make your videos stand out. The major flaw it has is its complexity. It is too difficult to start with at the beginning. Beginners can't even think of using Premiere at the time. Th UI is divided into several areas such as assembly, editing, color, effects, audio, titles etc. The all panels option merges all these different workspaces into one and that looks terrifying. Once you get a taste of it, the work experience is breexe, but before that particular point, your life will be full of hardships. It offers GPU acceleration and supports the latest APIs which gives it a slight upper hand against Vegas 14.

1. Magix Vegas Pro 15

Price: $300-$600

The Premiere Pro 2017 is no doubt one of the finest creations in this field, but Vegas Pro 15's ease of use and self-explanatory interface wins it this one. All the features that were missing in Vegas Pro 14 and were present in Premiere 2017, are included in in Vegas Pro 15. This is the most recent software of all and offers the most versatility. New features over Vegas pro 14 include picture-in-picture along with the pan and zoom feature, a modern looking UI, and some great other features. It supports all the recent GPUs with the latest APIs. If you want to have a channel, this is absolutely perfect choice for you to pick and learn.
